so, last year i got inspired to make my own text editor, and so i did. i called it MVTXT. the inspiration actually came from someone i know who made their own editor called KloneWord, which you can also check out via the link on MVTXT’s download page. there’s also a link to MVTXT’s github repo, though it’s a bit outdated.

on 31 december, 2025 - new years eve - i released an update to MVTXT, version 1.1.0, which is the first majour update since its initial release. i wanted to make it more user-friendly and convenient, and added a few things to help people get started.

here’s how to use MVTXT:

• new: starts a new file. any unsaved changes in your current file will be lost, so use with caution. (this button was added in version 1.1.0)

• save: writes your current text to a file. you can enter a full path (like C:\Users\yourname\Desktop\file.txt) or just a file name to save in the application directory.

• load: loads a file into the editor. you’ll need to enter the full path of the file you want to open.

• font: lets you change the font and font size of the editor text. you can also edit these directly in mvtxt_config.txt if you prefer.

• about: shows information about the current version and credits. this was updated to make it clearer and more helpful.

the first time you run MVTXT, a small message will guide you through these features and explain what each button does. this should make it easier to get started, especially if you’re new to the program

other improvements in 1.1.0 include:

• renamed the temporary folder and renamed the generated HTA file

• reworked some prompts and error messages to be easier to read

• added a demo folder with sample text files (ascii art and miscellaneous content) so you can test MVTXT at default settings; note that some files contain strong language or NSFW material, so use caution
