i was in a similar situation a few years ago. the first couple of weeks after quitting reddit were difficult but i did genuinely feel just generally better after that than i had previously. it is hard though.

why not: because evaluating a regex against every single post ever would be unfathomably slow. instead we use sqlite's fts5 (full text search) extension to index posts by words that appear in them (or something, i'm not sure how it works actually).

ok, hypothesis: the plane is being eaten by some sort of eldritch creature. randall's new book will be about applying real science to absurd hypothetical scenarios (ie "what to do if the plane you are on is attacked by some sort of eldritch creature"). it might be called "what to do" or something.
i tried to read this webcomic thing and the first few just seemed to be bad generic sexism, does it get any better after that?
